In Villa Tevere, in Rome, Saint Josemaría was given an antique statue of our Lady. It was a wooden sculpture, life-size, and badly in need of restoration. He was deeply sorry to see it in such a state, and began to pray as soon as he saw the statue: “My Mother… our Mother! Where did they chuck you out from? You are so beautiful!” He asked for it to be restored and for fresh flowers to be placed at its feet all the time the work was being done.
