On this day

Our Lord caused these words from Isaiah to ring out in Saint Josemaría’s mind: “Clama, ne cesses!” (“Shout out, do not hold back!” Isaiah 58:1) Some years later he told what had happened: “There was a person who was going through great suffering – not someone holy, but just an ordinary person like you, who has his ups and downs and has to be fixed with staples, big staples. And when he wasn’t expecting it, while he was praying hard for something that hasn’t happened yet, he heard deep down in his heart: ‘Clama, ne cesses!’ That person doesn’t like hearing things – he suffers. But he heard: ‘Carry on praying, shout, shout aloud; don’t stop praying, because I’m listening. Clama, ne cesses!’”
