“The whole of the Work is a great catechetical project, and what does catechesis aim to do? Make God known, so that people can practice the true religion. ‘Religion’ comes from
religare or
religere, which means binding the soul to God, or God choosing souls to get to know Him. We try to take souls to God; not just formally, like some yearly visit you do because you have to, but leading them to have a close relationship with Him.” This was how, the day after St Josemaría arrived in Argentina, he explained the reason for his journey through South America.
