On June 26, 2010, Rev. Daniel Stevenot celebrated Holy Mass in honor of St. Josemaria Escriva at St. Bernard’s Church. Among the concelebrants were Rev. Wilbert Chin Jon, Pastor of St. Bonaventure Church and Rev. Fernando Mignone, priest of Opus Dei, assisted by Deacon Nathan Siray.

During his homily, Fr. Fernando reminded the faithful that St. Josemaria teaches us “Unity of life, that Christians working in the world should not live a kind of double life. On the one hand, an interior life, a life of union with God, and on the other, a separate and distinct professional, social and family life. On the contrary, there is just one life, made of flesh and spirit. And it is this life which has to become, in both soul and body, holy and filled with God.”

“We cannot lead a double life. We cannot have a split personality if we want to be Christian. There is no other way my daughters and sons: either we find our Lord in ordinary everyday life, or we shall never find Him.” With these words of St. Josemaria, Fr. Fernando encouraged all the faithful to deepen their devotion to St. Josemaria. Now that St. Josemaria is in heaven, he can do more to help us. We are all his spiritual children, talk to him, tell him everything and ask him to intercede so that we too can live a holy life and will be accompanied by many souls when we go to heaven.

After the Mass, many people were in line for confession.

Continued festivities followed by potluck lunch at nearby Edworthy Park.
