The Swedish publisher "Catholica Bokförlaget" has brought out a new book by St Josemaría in Swedish: Christ is Passing By.

This is the second book of homilies by the founder of Opus Dei to be published in Swedish, as well as The Way, Holy Rosary, The Way of the Cross and Furrow.

Christ is Passing By is a collection of homilies preached by St Josemaría for various liturgical feasts or seasons: Advent, Christmas, the Epiphany, Lent, Holy Thursday, and others.

Bishop Alvaro del Portillo explained in the Foreword to the book that the homilies, ‘very calmly, without any controversy, avoid the schizophrenic idea of holiness as an unstable balance between a “normal life” and a “spiritual life.” At the same time the author resists any temptation to “spiritualize” human things by dismissing their complexity. What Monsignor Escrivá de Balaguer calls the “risk of freedom” is preserved.’

Christ is Passing By was first published in Spanish in 1973. Translations have since appeared in Russian, Dutch, Portuguese, English, Japanese, Croatian, Ukrainian and many other languages, as well as Braille.

The writings of the Founder of Opus Dei that have appeared in Swedish can be accessed on the website http://se.escrivaworks.org.
