Joyous narratives of favors granted through the intercession of Josemaria Escrivá, to persons from all over the Philippines.

In every story we see God’s infinitely loving care and concern. Monina Allarey Mercado, the book’s editor says: “We know that Saint Josemaria points to God as the sole Provider of all the favors granted through his intercession”. Divided into 12 categories, the stories of miracles tell us how, through prayer and faith, people were helped by the mercy of God. The categories are Prayer, Conversions, Confession, Work, Ordinary Life, Friends, Marriage and Family, Children, Student Life, Safety, Cures and Illness and Death. We present some of these favors.

Published without cuts
I am a journalist in a profession with pressures, hectic schedules and seemingly endless deadlines. I lighten my burden by seeking the
help of Monsignor Escriva and I end up feeling happy in my work.
Once I wrote an article on the controversial issue of divorce and why many Filipinos are against it. While working on the article, I prayed continuously to Monsignor Escriva. I supported my article with ampIe research and credible interviews. When written, I sub- mitted the article to one of Manila's prestigious publications where it came out without any cuts or changes. Because of the many favors I have received from God through Mosignor Escrivá, I continue to go to many activities that will foster my spiritual growth.

“Don't expect people's applause for your work.
What is more, sometimes you mustn't even expect other people and institutions, who like you are working for Christ, to understand you.
Seek only the glory of God and, while loving everyone, don't worry if there are some who don't understand you.”

My parents' wedding
My father and mother were baptized Catholics. However, they got married in the Aglipayan sect. After attending some classes
in catechism, I came to realize that my parents should receive the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Catholic Church. I also knew that it would be difficult to convince my father, who had been a faithful and hardworking husband for twenty-five years. He would not under- stand the need to have another wedding.
So that my father would see the light, I began to pray the prayer card for the intercession of Monsignor Escriva. When I first brought up the subject, my father naturally objected. He is a cook by profession. He hires himself out to cook at weddings, birthdays and fiestas in our town and in othernearby places. Being self-employed, his schedule is most irregular. He worked long hours and was often tired at the end of the day. The problem was not really just taking a few hours off for the wedding but making himself available for the one-day seminar required for any couple intending to receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
I continued asking the help of Monsignor Escriva. I no longer live at home because of my work in the city. One day when I visited my parents, my father himselfbrought up the subject of their church wedding. He said that he was even willing to go to the seminar. To our surprise, on the day of the seminar, my father and mother were the first to arrive. They received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony soon after, two people in their late 40s who had been together for twenty-five years.

“God in his infinite and perfect justice and mercy treats with the same love, but in an unequal way, his unequal children.
That is why equality does not mean using the same measure for everybody.”
