"Christians today are called to bear witness to the power of prayer prayer, to our world that is often closed the Divine horizon and to the hope that leads to an encounter with God."
These were just some of the words of Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday morning during his weekly General Audience in Paul VI Hall, where more than 6 thousand faithful from all over the world were present. The Pope said that the example and the model of perfect prayer is Jesus, Himself.
"As the incarnate Son," said Pope Benedict, "He shows us perfectly how to pray as children of the heavenly Father," adding, "Jesus' example of fidelity to prayer challenges us to examine the time and effort we devote to our own prayer."
"Oggi i cristiani sono chiamati a essere testimoni di preghiera perché il nostro mondo è spesso chiuso all'orizzonte divino e alla speranza che porta l'incontro con Dio". Lo ha ricordato Benedetto XVI questa mattina, nel corso della catechesi dell'udienza generale, tenuta in Aula Paolo VI.
"I remember him in prayer with affection as I think of you all. While we journey through Lent and prepare for the feast of Easter, we come with joy to the day when we will also venerate as a saint this great pope and witness of Christ".
