"There Be Dragons," the historical epic written and directed by Roland Joffé which is in theaters since May, has already had a profound impact on some people, including actor Wes Bentley ("American Beauty," "The Four Feathers.").

According to Joffé, he created the character of Manolo to show that "When love goes, it leaves a vacuum. Manolo is full of love; it's just it's gotten tied up in a dreadful knot."

Wes Bentley states, “I can knit Manolo and me together very easily. He did so many things wrong. I definitely did that...And I was lost, completely lost."

Bentley says he spent 10 years before he got sber "being nothing," and eventually got to the point where dying didn't matter to him before "There Be Dragons."

"I actually got sober on this movie," says Bentley. "I was lucky enough to meet someone on this film who was very spiritual without trying to be... I found a reconnection to God and to people."

A year and a half after his life-changing experience, Wes Bentley says the changes remain a part of him. "There Be Dragons" it is in Theaters since May 6, 2011.
