St Josemaria Rugby Club
Guatemala, February 20, 2011
I spent most of my time in El Roble School, Guatemala. Ever since I was little it’s been like my second home, I grew up there and I currently work there. Some time ago, seeing how popular rugby was becoming in Guatemala, we decided to start rugby at the school. It looked like quite a wild, violent sport, but we thought we’d take up the challenge and try to make a success of it.

That was the beginning of the St Josemaria Rugby Club. Several of the team’s founder members had a great devotion to St Josemaria and we named the Club after him in gratitude for the Christian formation and development given in schools and clubs that take their inspiration from his teachings.
The club’s name helps us keep our sense of direction, and our desire to help one other come close to God and do apostolate with the young people in other teams we play matches with.

Our goal is to get some of our younger members onto the national team for the Olympics and to make a name for our team in Central America.
We pray through St Josemaria’s intercession to help us to seek holiness in rugby.
