Which side were Opus Dei members on in the Spanish Civil War?

Out of the few people who belonged to Opus Dei at that time, a number were imprisoned in the course of the Spanish Civil War. Most of the others, like any male civilians of military age, were conscripted into the army of the side in whose territory they happened to be on the outbreak of the Civil War. In other words it was basically geographical location that decided which side of the conflict someone was on – except when people escaped from one side to the other themselves.
