The Founding of
Nagasaki Seido School

A study of the foundation in 1978 of Nagasaki Seido School, a primary and secondary girl’s school representing the first school in Japan inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaría, has just been published in the Volume 9 of the journal Studia et Documenta.

The Pantheon and
Santa Maria Sopra Minerva

St Catherine of Siena, whose feast day is April 29, lived in Rome at the end of her life, in a difficult time for the Church. She had the habit of praying before the memorials of Apostles and Martyrs. Her mortal remains are now venerated in the Church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, close to the Pantheon, now the Basilica of St Mary and the Martyrs. St Josemaria learnt a lot from St Catherine's love for the Pope and for the early confessors of the Faith.

On May 2, 1935, St. Josemaria went to visit a shrine in Spain, the shrine of Our Lady of Sonsoles. "It wasn’t a pilgrimage in the normal sense: nothing noisy or elaborate, just three of us."

A publication from the St. Josemaria Institute, based on Saint Josemaria's writings is available in pdf and printed format. Intended for both married and engaged couples, it presents the sacrament of marriage as a "true path to holiness, an image of Christ's spousal love for his Church."

Love for religious brothers and sisters

2015 is the Year of Consecrated Life in the Church. St Josemaría always loved and venerated the religious. A hand-written note of his, addressed to members of Opus Dei, says: “A great mission of ours is to bring people to love the religious.”

Every day for the past ten years we have thanked God and St Josemaria. Since our son came home from an operation on his head and got straight on his bicycle and when we said maybe he should wait, he retorted, “The operation was on my head, not my feet!”
