Saint Josemaría in Paris procession
For several years now the Diocese of Paris has organised an annual procession with banners on the Feast of All Saints, 1 November. The procession starts at the Church of Notre Dame de Passy and ends at the Cathedral of Notre Dame, taking in streets called after Saint Albert the Great, Saint Clothilde, Saint Francis de Assisi, and even Saint Gabriel, on the way.
In 2003, as in 2002, Saint Josemaría Escrivá was included in the procession. Parishioners from different parishes took it in turns to carry the banner of the new Saint.
The whole route took almost two hours. On arriving at the cathedral, the pilgrims entered it in procession and joined in Vespers with Msgr. Pollien, Auxiliary Bishop of Paris.
Guide to Rome following in the footsteps of the Saints
In her book Sulle orme dei santi a Roma. Guida alle icone reliquie e case dei santi (“In the footsteps of the saints in Rome. Guide to the icons, relics and houses of the saints”), published by the Libreria Editrice Vaticana, Elvira Obenbach has selected one hundred places in the Eternal City including churches, convents and houses, which conserve traces of saints.
In the preface to the book Msgr Marco Fisina, Director of the Liturgical Office of the Diocese of Rome, says: “Relics of the saints are not only parts from their bodies, but above all witnesses of their lives. This book aims to help us follow the footprints of such witnesses, so that we can become pilgrims along the paths of the Faith, in the school of the saints.”
The book includes one hundred information-pages giving practical information about each place, its relics, pictures or statues, etc., with a brief history and photograph. The notes on each place are arranged by zones, and a zone map at the beginning of each section enables the pilgrim to locate them easily.
The book features saints from every age from Saint Peter, Saint Agnes and Saint Eustachius down to Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, whose mortal remains are in Our Lady of Peace , the church of the Opus Dei prelature.
