Did Josemaria have the vision of Opus Dei just like it comes in the movie?

Mari Cruz - Spain

It was substantially the same, according to the account left by St Josemaria. It happened on October 2, 1928, while he was doing a spiritual retreat.

There, alone in his room, he saw what God wanted of him, and Opus Dei was born as a path to holiness through daily work that was open to everyone.
He wrote down the message he received in a visual metaphor that reflected the message of Opus Dei: that everyone can be a saint in their daily work, done in union with Jesus.

Joffé misses out other circumstances and focuses on the essentials: the inner revelation of a mission to spread a specific message.
