Asked how to face up to life’s difficulties and not turn to alcohol for escape, St Josemaria recommended turning to God, “an all-powerful Father”.

Mr Jose Escriva was Josemaria's dad. His business collapsed, and he had to take a job in Logroño. The family moved there in 1915.
